Isabella Shiel - 2023 Winner

Northern Tioga Chamber of Commerce awards $400 Scholarship to Newark Valley High School senior Isabella Shiel
The Northern Tioga Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce Isabella Shiel of Newark Valley High School as the recipient of this year’s $400 NTCC scholarship. Isabella has distinguished herself in many areas – scholastically, athletically, and in her community involvement.”
Isabella has participated in many extracurricular activities and community service outreach programs. She is also an active member of Girl Scouts of the United States, where she has participated as a youth delegate at the Commission on the Status of Women held at the United Nations in New York City. She is currently completing her Girl Scout Gold Award, spending over 80 hours volunteering at the local historical society to restore an educational nature trail.
Isabella has also been involved in the New Visions Law and Government Academy which has allowed her to intern at the Broome County Public Defender’s Office, BC Family Court, BC Legislature, and Supreme Courts.
Among her other accomplishments, Isabella has become president of her high school Spanish club, vice president of her class, snowboarding club, varsity club, as well as a member of the National Honor Society and student council.
Isabella will be attending the University of Vermont and admitted to their College of Arts & Sciences with a major in Political Science and Pre-Law.
The NTCC is proud and honored to award this annual scholarship to this very deserving student. Congratulations Isabella!”
