2021 Newark Valley Summerfest
What a great Summerfest this year!
Many thanks to all the directors, members and volunteers for the long hours of planning and working on this year’s event! Thanks to “ROWDY” of the Rumble Ponies for leading our first Teddy Bear Parade for the kiddos around the Depot. Thanks to Ruth Beasley for setting that up. The turnout of kids and parents was fantastic! Also, a huge thank you to all the Vendors who participated on the Village Green and the Depot. Thanks to Kat Amato and Janet Gordinier for all your work with the vendors! The singers on the Village Green and the music at the Depot was great this year.
This year we had the Great Duck Race on a man made “river” on the Railroad Tracks at the Depot. Congratulations to our winners: Angela Randall – 1st place with duck #259, Dee Stiles – 2nd place with duck #028 and Charlie Davis -3rd place with duck #048! There were more spectators for the duck race this year than any other year ever! Wait until you see what is planned for next year’s Duck Race! Thanks to Bill Swagler, Dave Westerman and Norm
Whittemore for setting it all up.
The fireworks were spectacular as usual, with a huge thank you to Erin Short for allowing us to use her field up on the hill. Boy Scout Troop 30 did the debris clean-up on Sunday, many thanks to the leaders and the boys. A huge thank you to all the businesses who sponsored and individuals who donated to the fireworks fund to make this possible!
